The topic of Eric Bieniemy is currently trending due to reports indicating that the Kansas City Chiefs plan to re-hire him as their offensive coordinator. This development follows a period of speculation regarding his future, particularly after he served as the running backs coach for the Chicago Bears, generating significant interest among fans and analysts alike.

The combination of the Chiefs’ request to interview Bieniemy and subsequent reports suggesting his potential re-hiring has sparked a surge in search interest. Many individuals are keen to understand the implications of his return, especially given his previous success with the Chiefs’ offense when he held the same position.

News outlets like NFL.com and FOX 32 Chicago have contributed to this heightened interest by confirming the reports and outlining the circumstances surrounding the Chiefs’ decision. The juxtaposition of Bieniemy’s prior coaching role and the possible shift back to a familiar environment resonates with many in the football community, driving the number of searches beyond the typical levels.

All but seals the perception that Andy was never serious about interviewing outside his tree. Hope EB brings some actual good ideas from Ben Johnson.
V
Vyuvarax • 149 points
What in Andy Reid’s two decade plus history made people think he’d bring in someone outside his circle?
E
eniretakia • 53 points
I truly think this was more just hope than anything based in reality.
S
SylvesterTaurus • 11 points
Seen it constantly around Chiefs content creators and this sub.
I
IIHURRlCANEII • 17 points
I don’t think any of them \*thought\* it would happen, just hoped it would.
S
Scaryclouds • 1 points
Little… just a hope that he has a realization that if shit goes south next season, and all he does is play it safe this offseason he’s likely going to be out of a job.
G
GoldenDom3r • 11 points
Those guys would also have to want to come here, it’s not an enticing opportunity for an up and comer since you get none of the credit but a lot of the blame
L
levare8515 • 1 points
I’m more hopefully he brings whatever yang was so successful to Andy’s yin. It may be the guys needed a dickhead to scream at them
V
Vast-Treat-9677 • 1 points
This is the twilight of Andy’s career. If they can’t get things straightened out with his people in his way then he will see himself out the door. He believes they can rest up and still get it done. He’s more than earned the right to give it a try.
S
Starbrand62286 • 361 points
You can not tell me that there isn’t some young coordinator out there who is more than capable of doing the job here
T
typac69 • 178 points
That young coordinator who is more than capable of the job would rather go to a place like Detroit, Philly, or any other place where he gets to run his own offense.
I
IIHURRlCANEII • 64 points
We are at the point the Chiefs could have a succession plan for them to be the HC after Andy and they’d only have to wait a few years.
O
Ok-Significance2978 • 57 points
I’ve been hearing this “just wait a few years” thing for half a decade. This OC job is simply not desired across the league
W
well-lighted • 43 points
“Half a decade” is a really dramatic way of saying 5 years lol
A
afguy8 • 11 points
And now im more thankful the plan didnt work out for Nagy.
H
Hot_Most5332 • 3 points
And yet no one wants to wait an indefinite amount of time to maybe get a head coaching job. And if they don’t, historically no one else will hire them either.
J
jimhabfan • 2 points
You might even say a lustrum.
I
IIHURRlCANEII • 4 points
He’s 68 man. It’s definitely as close as it’s ever been. Unsure if Andy knows still when it’d happen but I’m sure he feels it’s close. His contract is up in 3 years.
O
Ok-Significance2978 • 9 points
Why would anyone want the job though? If the offense does well it’s Andy’s offense, if it doesn’t then you will be the scapegoat just like Nagy. Any coordinator will prefer to go to teams with more talented rosters where they can show their worth
E
Eldorian • 4 points
Every single year that passes is “as close as it’s ever been” – that line literally means nothing unless you have a hard date already.
T
typac69 • 6 points
Only works if Andy has a timeframe for when he’s retiring. He’s been coaching in some form since the 80s, so it’s obvious he loves it and wants to do it as long as he can. He’s under contract through 2029, I cant imagine waiting 4 seasons for a HC shot is that attractive when there’s an opening in Detroit now that can put you on a fast track to HC in the next year or 2.
A
Anteater776 • 4 points
Yeah and fans and owners are fickle. If something doesn’t work out in those 3-4 years, might as well be it’ll be blamed on the OC and the promised job just goes poof
T
typac69 • 12 points
Also, if you’re a good enough coach that the Chiefs are willing to promise you Andy’s job when he retires, you’re probably good enough to be hired as the Bills coach today.

Of course there is. It’s not like EB is the only guy who can yell at people.
T
TimeTravelingChris • 16 points
But this sub says he is REALLY good at yelling at people. What else does an OC need to know?
R
Rysumm • 5 points
We also need a guy who is willing to telling Andy that place sucks. EB will do that. A young guy, who is up and coming, not so much. Because, we all know Andy is calling the plays.
N
NegativesPositives • 11 points
> EB will do that This Bienemy you guys have created is fascinating.
M
mathgun7 • 4 points
Please go back to this sub during EB’s final two years. The EB frustration was way higher than it’s been with Nagy — and we were winning.
T
TimeTravelingChris • 2 points
Will he?
V
Vyuvarax • 2 points
You can always tell who were fans when EB was here, because this was not the EB that was in Kansas City. It’s the EB of your fantasies.
M
maxwasson • 5 points
Nate Scheelhaase is right there, I know the Rams are still in it, but you gotta at least request an interview.
S
Starbrand62286 • 2 points
Right?
T
tridentsaredope • 2 points
Seriously, Rockhurst Alum and everything.
K
KansinattiKid • 9 points
If you look at this years team, the season was lost on the details. Bar minimum EB will fix that immediately. It may even let Andy open up again. Just like Andy spoon feeds rookie playing time as an offensive unit if you can do abc right then Andy ain’t going to touch defg or h.
R
rkallday • 17 points
Well we won 2 superbowls with him
B
BeneficialChemist874 • 16 points
Correlation doesn’t equal causation.
R
RayLiotaWithChantix • 40 points
There was a pretty sharp decrease in offensive discipline when he left, if it’s not EB, what do you think caused that?
H
Hammerhead34 • 16 points
I think the idea that the offensive decline lately is entirely due to discipline is extremely reductive. The offense is getting worse because Andy hasn’t innovated since 2022 and defenses around the league are changing. We run the most RPOs in the league while most teams are using them less and less. We run very little play action, and even less from behind center. We don’t run any route concepts that attack the intermediate depths. The offense is entirely reliant on Mahomes being perfect, and creating things out of system when everybody is perfectly covered because the playcalls suck. Mahomes has been carrying way too big of a burden for the past few years. Everybody just wants to handwave away the real issues. Andy says the same bullshit and you fall for it. Penalties and drops, clean those up and we’ll be fine, right? Wrong. Also this naive belief that Bienemy is some kind of wonder solution that will fix penalties and drops is laughable.
I
iKickdaBass • 2 points
Cover 2 killed the Chiefs not EB leaving.
I
IIHURRlCANEII • 6 points
Idk, maybe losing a hall of fame WR and Kelce still being in his prime? Oh, and NFL defenses not having done their full evolution into the MacDonald type defenses that completely shut down Andy’s west coast based scheme.
O
originalusername4567 • 6 points
EB still coordinated the #1 offense in the NFL in 2022 without Tyreek Hill.
C
Chiefster1587 • 15 points
Are you claiming that Tyreek Hill of all people was the key to our offensive discipline? That is definitely a take of all time. /s EB was responsible for more than you give him credit for. And yes, we need to stitch up the basics.
M
maxwasson • 4 points
They gotta replenish the offense and at least consider taking a WR at #9.
R
RayLiotaWithChantix • 2 points
You think removing Hill caused DISCIPLINE issues in Kansas City to increase? I didn’t say anything about play calling ingenuity or running speed or anything, but discipline and execution from all offensive positions.
I
IIHURRlCANEII • 5 points
Sorry, read offense as a whole. We are also memoryholing this “accountability”. Here are the offensive penalty ranks by the Chiefs offense under EB, 1st being most penalties in the league: 2018: 1st 2019: 18th 2020: 4th 2021: 8th 2022: 26th Wow man. We were so consistently accountable.
R
rkallday • 9 points
Meh. Better then nagy
B
BeneficialChemist874 • 11 points
That’s not a high bar to clear.
T
TimeTravelingChris • 2 points
Despite him.

very cool that we chose to interview no one else and head right back to eb.
