> Stefanski wanted to roll with Dillion Gabriel until the front office, who normally makes horrible decisions, forced him to start Shedeur and the team saw a great deal more of success. I very much doubt the qb change had any significant impact. The schedule eased up when they put shadeur in. He ultimately played worse than gabriel for all but the tennesee game, and even still they lost that game. The team just isn’t good outside of 2-3 players.

Fair fair, but even if this didn’t happen my point is still the same. He had five years and was unable to stabilize the QB position despite multiple opportunities. The Falcons are in an equally ambiguous situation, so I think he will fail.
P
Pelicanfan07 • 1 points
The QB situation wasn’t his fault. The Browns are a dumpster fire of an organization. No, what you’re talking about before you say something.

FinancialRabbit388 • 8 points
Pretty much every single statistic shows Gabriel was better. That Ravens game when they made the switch, the team was up 16-0 on Baltimore. They made the switch to Sanders, he was atrocious, they never scored another point and Ravens won. Sanders is gonna throw 20 int’s and get sacked 60 times next year. That’s his game. Can’t believe anyone actually thinks he was even mediocre rather than flat out awful.

“I understand the Browns organization sucks but Stefanski has shown no ability to overcome this.” Browns have made the playoffs twice since 2002, both with Stefanski as HC. The second of which was a campaign led by 40 year old QB2 Joe Flacco. Browns have had 3 10+ win seasons since 1994 and Stefanski is responsible for 2 of them. Browns have won 2 playoff games since 1990, the HCs for those wins were Stefanski and Bill Belichick.

It should be noted that Belichick worked for a different organization. The Browns he worked for moved to Baltimore and changed their name to the Ravens. The current Browns are an expansion team that was allowed to keep the records of the old team.

Well he had an Elite Dragon for a QB! That explains it

Professional-Card699 • 1 points
It’s surface level impressive but the roster he inherited in 2020 was stacked and in 2023 he was carried by a generational defensive and Flacco. After the first year, talent, development, and offensive production declined heavily. I think he may be successful with his inherited Falcons roster but I have no faith in his ability to be a winner long term. Stefanski will be instrumental in keeping the Falcons bad to ensure the coming Saints dynasty.

he’s literally not, and you’re not wrong https://ftnfantasy.com/nfl/cleveland-browns look at they’re offensive dvoa everyone always claims he didn’t want deshaun I call bullshit. He’s the reason they also got rid of baker. he’s been carried and I agree he can make a good roster good not great.

Are we supposed to be impressed with that? Sorry I can’t tell
P

Do you think Steffanski is a significantly better coach that Raheem Morris? The answer to this question should be a clear and resonant yes. Your puzzle has been solved.
S
SBXLIV • 7 points
Who were they seriously considering that wasn’t significantly better than Morris?
A
AdmiralPeriwinkle • 10 points
I got a second round interview but ultimately declined.
K
kingralek • 5 points
You’ll likely do better in the 2nd round of hires or holding out until next year. That’s how you play the long game.
D
DangerousKnowledge8 • 9 points
You should compare Stefanski and the other candidates, not Morris
P
Professional-Card699 • 2 points
Exactly. There were some guys in the pool that would be really scary with their roster so I’m celebrating they went with Stefanski. To me it’s like getting upset the Falcons “upgraded” from Arthur Smith to Raheem Morris

Not really lol

It’s generational. I’m doing my part so my kids and grandkids will keep it going.

Regarding the COTY criticism, I think your view is fair for 1-time winners. It does typically go to first year head coaches that exceed expectations, but after the league adjusts to them, many of them flame out quickly if they can’t make their own adjustments. Like when a rookie comes up in baseball and hits .350 the first month, and then the pitchers around the league all collectively realize he can’t hit a slider, so he drops to .180 the second month. The third month will usually dictate the long term trajectory of the batter. A 2-time COTY suggests far more competence and adaptability (to me, at least), than simply a good vibes and luck first season. I’m still happy they didn’t land Harbs, but I do think Stefanski is a solid get for them, unfortunately.
P
Professional-Card699 • 1 points
To me it’s worse that he won two as it indicates the team had declined so heavily over his three years as coach that it was a big deal they made the playoffs at all. And especially in 2023, Stefanski was carried to that award by a generational defense and Joe Flacco hype.

I’d wait a year or two before I got all giddy over them hiring him. He’s a decent coach, who knows?
A
AdmiralPeriwinkle • -6 points
I hope he has some success. I don’t understand fans that want to be in a weak division like the Patriots were during their dynasty years. I’d rather be great in a tough division like the Seahawks/49ers/Rams are now.
R
RoboRougar0u • 18 points
I’d rather shit in both hands and clap than see the Falcons ever have success.
K
kingralek • 2 points
What if you just shit in one hand? I think it would be the same effect once you started clapping. It’s possible the spray would be more if the solid had combined with the shit hand rather than 2 glove hands of shit, which wouldn’t least to that big of an explosion.
R
RoboRougar0u • 6 points
One hand isn’t enough shit for the Falcons.

Fuck the Falcons. DUH
T
The_Coach69 • 3 points
The Falcons got a good coach in Stefanski, who got screwed by his previous bosses. While they won’t have a Brown’s level defense, their offense should take a big step forward with his wide-zone scheme and the pieces in place now. Plus he doesn’t have a media circus around this team over a 5th round draft pick.
D
DangerousKnowledge8 • 6 points
The first time he went to the playoffs his offense was loaded: Chubb, Hunt, Landry, Beckham, and three all-pros in the OL. Also Garret, Vernon and Richardson. Not making a full evaluation of the roster because I don’t know about it, but you would say a coach has a very fair shot at 11 wins with these players
B
beaudujour • 2 points
Bad example in Doug Pederson, who won a superbowl with a backup quarterback.
P
Professional-Card699 • 1 points
This is kind of my point though. Doug Peterson was a good coach and what he did in 2018 and 2023 was impressive, but in both situations the team declined and he got fired. I view Stefanski in pretty much the same light where is 2020 berth was impressive, but both the team and his coaching had declined over the past 5 years.

Stefanski is a great coach, on top of everything that Watson deal was an all-time terrible poison pill for a team. I was really hoping he would go anywhere but Atlanta….
O
Odanrav • 2 points
Not necessarily worried the Falcons hired Stefanski, but I do believe he’s a solid coach and a floor raiser. They’ll be more consistent going forward but like most coaches Stefanski will be reliant on the talent level he’s given by Matty Shitpants and the front office.
B
bronzefpg504 • 2 points
lol they forget browns had baker and Flacco the yes they made the playoffs and then they traded for Watson. Then drafted 2 qbs, traded for another qb lol. He’s also the reason Nick Chubb was always hurt , Kareem hunt also and the rookie rb they drafted got hurt he’s gonna run bijan to the ground cause penix is still trash and kirk cousins hate him for running him in Minnesota lol it’s browns 2.0
N
NOBlazer • 1 points
Not even close to browns 2.0
B
bronzefpg504 • 0 points
Umm 6-7 different coaches , 3 different GM’s signed kirk cousins to a big contract and then proceed to draft penix ,haven’t been in the playoffs in 8yrs ,been rebuilding for 8yrs , blew the biggest lead in Super Bowl history 😂😂plz tell me how they are not close

His offense also led the league in turnovers when he won COTY in 2023. People in the thread were wayyy overhyping him. He don’t have anything much to brag about proof wise. They are just looking at the COTY awards. I don’t think he’s a horrible hire but in a QB dominant league, they brought in a guy to make the best of having a potentially generational talent RB. He’s shown he’s not great handling QB talent. Kirk Cousins could have an 8 year straight streak of 4000+ yd games but he doesn’t because of 1 3600 yd year with Stefanski as OC. I don’t think there is anything out there to support this is a great hire for them besides just the idea that he’s good. Sure CLE had there effect on the lack of success there but he’s not absolved just because they suck. Baker is having success in TB after being let go there. He’s bad news for their QB situation but likely pairs well with Bijan. However, I think he runs him into the dirt trying to keep his 2nd head coaching job struggling to succeed. Great hire for us in my opinion, and likely keeps the Falcons struggling QB wise for the next 3-5 years.

lol plus he’s 1-2 in playoffs

He won a playoff game with the Cleveland Browns.
I
idk7812 • 1 points
Because the guy will come in with his style of playcalling with Kirk Cousins who fits his system. He likes to run the ball Bijan is legit, he uses heavy TE packages which the falcons have, the defense will get better with the young pas rushers, and they were 1 win away from making the playoffs this year with a bad play caller which Kevin is not and incompetent head coach who hasn’t won anything in his career. He’s basically going to have the 2020 browns offensively and not the 2024 browns

Stefanski had an 11 win football team with a negative point differential. It’s hard to be that fake good.
