if you have a higher end CPU the difference is 0. DO NOT INSTALL ATLAS OS

I was wondering why they were using such an old CPU paired with a brand new GPU…
F
FuryxHD • 3 points
I think the comparison if it was done with W11 Stock, W11 De-Bloat vs AtlasOS even the older CPU would be about the same. The never model CPU just had zero issues with or without the bloat on W11. While we hate Windows for the bloat, W11 isn’t designed for older hardware in its stock format. LTSC would have probably yielded the same results as well.

You can “make” your own, just download the official ISO and use the tools to debloat windows beforehand. There’s a reputable YouTuber who explains how to, Chris Titus Tech. By using something like AtlasOS you risk being hacked, all for 3 fps.
A
AdvancedPlayer17 • 3 points
That video is outdated, Atlas moved away from using ISO’s. Everything is open source
D
DrPikaJu • 2 points
Hella outdated. I use it for my gaming machine. I got security updates, i got the defender. I got the core isolation. All of it is now configurable. You just have to know what you are doing…

Exactly

yes install atlasos

And theses number are indicatif only for AMD cards. Nvidia has performances way less stable and is still 73% of the installed park based on steam survey.

indicative, multi-lingual auto correct can backstab you.

Ha! Yes it can.

There is something very wrong with cp2077 on vanila windows currently. Linux and debloated windows both perform around 20-25% better.
H
Hercules529 • 30 points
just use unattend-generator xml to debloat . No need to use custom ISOs
A
AdvancedPlayer17 • -22 points
Need PhD to configure that

Do you write with your whole fist?
I
iunoyou • 97 points
Only do this if you like the idea of having ransomware randomly hosing all your data two or three times a year lmao, custom ISOs are an unbelievably stupid way to squeeze out a handful of extra FPS
L
Louzan_SP • 14 points
>randomly hosing all your data two or three times a year Not sure if you are talking about Widows, Atlas or both
G
glenn1812 • 6 points
Adding to your comment. The only better and safe option. Download windows 11 and use this tool. [https://github.com/Raphire/Win11Debloat](https://github.com/Raphire/Win11Debloat) My PC is purely for games and I’ve gone so far as deleting event the calculator app. Custom windows OS when you can use a debloater is incredibly dumb.

or get windows 10 IoT lts. Its barebones because its made for kiosks and the likes, doesnt come with any ai or Cortana, and no telemetry either. windows 10 debloat tools still work, and it has security support until 2032
A
AdvancedPlayer17 • 0 points
It’s not a custom ISO
T
Temporary_Talk2744 • 1 points
What do you mean? Of course it is. You can install Atlas by injecting it directly into a OEM Windows ISO image as shown in a guide on their site. By that method alone it’s the very definition of a custom ISO.
A
AdvancedPlayer17 • -7 points
I don’t know what nonsense you’re talking about but there is no such thing. All you have to do is install Playbook and the Atlas playbook file, both doing nothing what powershell scripts like Chris titus aren’t already doing.
T
Temporary_Talk2744 • 3 points
Look at their website you clown, you can either install Atlas via playbook or do direct ISO injection. But sure, if you want to put all your trust in other people without verifying anything and just blindly modifying your windows with some AME installer that needs to be added to security scan exemptions in order to not be flagged as a false positive then go ahead.
X
Xcissors280 • 2 points
I wouldn’t consider it a false positive
A
AdvancedPlayer17 • -1 points
Because you’re checking all the source code of every little thing you download, verify all the file signatures. Who are you kidding? Atlas works fine over here, and never broke my windows install, not even once. Unlike those PowerShell scripts that have all been vibe coded and break Windows over and over. It’s literally not any safer, or more dangerous than those. But sure go ahead apply your double standards.
T
Temporary_Talk2744 • 2 points
Yeah, I’m a systems engineer and can code, if I’m debloating windows I do check what I run lol.
A
AdvancedPlayer17 • -2 points
Sure you do buddy
T
Temporary_Talk2744 • 2 points
Yeah mate, worked in IT engineering for over 10 years now 👍
A
AdvancedPlayer17 • -10 points
The people hiring you must be idiots then, if you can’t even see that the thing that makes your mouth foam is completely optional. Have a good one
A
ANDR0iD_13 • -3 points
Has this ever happened with either Atlas and Revi? My friend used them for years before he switched to linux. I use linux now too, but st this point I trust random open-source projects more than microslop.
R
rng847472495 • 85 points
Do not use a custom windows OS iso. Just get iot ltsc, debloat it further yourself in 20mins.
F
FuryxHD • 5 points
11 LTSC should have been the base OS, that thing when you install just on its own, is fantastic. Your first time boot and you press start…so clean. Best part is we don’t get the AI crap put on it. And on top of that just run any other standard debloater we use these days like O&O Shutup or Chris’s one and its a solid OS.
I
IllustriousBed1949 • 6 points
Atlas isn’t a custom ISO, is a script that you launch after installation and with code source available to read
M
MiniDemonic • 9 points
Unless you read the code and compile it yourself it doesn’t matter if it has source code available. Did you know? A bad actor can upload completely fine source code but put in malware in the pre-compiled executable that you can download instead of compiling it yourself. No, I am not just fearmongering, this is an actual thing that happens. Here’s a short YouTube documentary about a case like that: [https://youtu.be/DIyWyxAJ0Dc](https://youtu.be/DIyWyxAJ0Dc)
I
IllustriousBed1949 • -16 points
Crazy to judge a project without have a look to the repository : [https://github.com/Atlas-OS/Atlas](https://github.com/Atlas-OS/Atlas) So I guess you use no open source software except if you read the whole source of them, right ?
R
rng847472495 • 8 points
It comes down to trust. Will I use a software used by millions that’s precompiled like 7zip? Sure. Will I use paid software such as photoshop that’s used by millions by globally known developer? Sure. Would I ever run something precompiled from a developer I know nothing about? Fuck no. All windows custom isos or this atlasos at the end of the day are supposed to be free, done for a tiny fraction of community. They have no trust factor. Then it’s even dumber when you realise you can debloat yourself and know you’re safe. Do not use custom windows.
I
IllustriousBed1949 • -12 points
That’s my point, it comes to trust, AtlasOS have more than 70 contributors, a public repository where I can follow modification and compile it myself if needed, how different it is from another debloat script or a open source project like 7-zip ? (like having million users ensure any security, far from it). | All windows custom isos or this atlasos at the end of the day are supposed to be free, done for a tiny fraction of community. Well like most open source project but if you prefer to trust Adobe, good for you 🙂
R
rng847472495 • 3 points
Okay so 70 contributes, who are they? How many of them can publish precompiled things? The more the worse, you expose the project to one of them getting hacked and publishing something malicious. Are you seriously comparing trust factor of atlasos to 7zip? Seriously? The difference between huge projects, especially within actual companies there’s proper structure, protocol, and those people have a LOT to lose if they fuck up. And fuckups happen too, plenty of social engineering situations within massive projects by large companies where someone with access to publish something, uploaded malware. This here atlasos is end of the day borderline copyright/piracy aspect, it is done for community, free of charge, by people you know absolutely nothing about. At the end of the day such projects are done “to be nice for the community” or by people that have some weird ideals. You have to ask yourself, what does atlasos offer that you cannot do yourself? Absolutely nothing. You can achieve same result within an hour of your time and know you’ve done it right.
I
IllustriousBed1949 • -2 points
7-zip a huge project ? an archival tool able to implement remote execution code and many CVE ? Still on source forge in 2026 ? With no easy way to follow development ? Are we speaking the same project ? 🙂 | This here atlasos is end of the day borderline copyright/piracy aspect That’s a fair point. | At the end of the day such projects are done “to be nice for the community” or by people that have some weird ideals. Welcome to open source project | You have to ask yourself, what does atlasos offer that you cannot do yourself? Save me one hour and let me use my Windows 11 Home licence ? And to be honest, didn’t do serious Windows administration for years so not sure it’ll take me one hour to do it (I do Linux administration for a living).
R
rng847472495 • 4 points
Ah yes a project that’s almost 30years old, used by even government institutions and that’s considered the standard for archive tool for the windows platform, is on same trust factor as atlasos. Patched cve you mean. What’s your point lmfao? Exploits are meant to be patched. You know there been plenty inside anything and everything, from core components in many operating systems to even cpus. You’re an absolute clown trying to defend something like atlasos, and of course the main point of, it is about trusting that a random person with access to publish compiled binary doesn’t upload malware goes over your head. Yes 1hour of your time is more precious than doing something more logical. Done talking to you. Enjoy installing whatever you want, common sense is not strong with you.
I
IllustriousBed1949 • -2 points
Any advice to try out Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC ? First thing, I see, it seems important to get Xbox Game Bar to get the right CPU scheduler for X3D CPU.
M
MiniDemonic • 5 points
Ok, let’s look at AtlasOS shall we? Here’s some of what they have removed: MRT, Defender, SecHealth, HealthCheck, MsMpEng, SmartScreen, Spectre and Meltdown mitigations Yes, of course you will get a performance boost by removing ALL THE SECURITY FEATURES. That’s just common sense. But removing all the security features is not a good thing, it’s actually a bad thing. One single malicious ad getting through your ad-blocker and boom you are fucked. One single infect file downloaded for any reason and boom you are fucked. You wouldn’t even know that you are fucked. Have you analyzed the pre-compiled tool and made sure it doesn’t do anything malicious? Can you with 100% certainty say that a tool that removes 100% of your security is not also adding anything malicious? No, the fact that it is open-source with 70 contributors does not mean that the pre-compiled tool is free from malicious code. How can you even be sure that the pre-compiled tool you download is compiled from the source code available on github? How can you be sure it’s not compiled from a private fork that also includes malicious code? It’s already disabling literally all security features, so why would you trust it to not do something to abuse that?
I
IllustriousBed1949 • 1 points
What would you recommend to get an unbloated windows ?
M
MiniDemonic • 3 points
Manually remove the stuff you don’t want, just don’t remove security features. Don’t download a pre-compiled executable that removes stuff for you. Look up on how to remove it yourself.
I
IllustriousBed1949 • 1 points
Isn’t there script removing the most hating things like One Drive and that can be trust ? Some components are sometimes pain in the ass to remove
M
MiniDemonic • 2 points
There are scripts for most things, but I won’t be recommending any script that I personally can’t say with certainty is safe to run. That’s something you will have to research and make your own decision on.
