Dalot did his best to ruin an absolutely historic day. Could have easily been a red on any other day.

Let’s go Burnley.

I don’t think that starting line up for city was correct. I can’t remember seeing Foden once during today.
M
mjenkins_eng • 1 points
That was the best possible lineup for City Rodri and Bernardo behind Foden. Doku and Semenyo in behind Haaland. That’s absolute box office line up. Pity Carrick completely outfoxed Pep tactically

We’ve had a pretty good squad all along, and this is what they’re capable of when they aren’t held back by an awful manager and a system that doesn’t work at all. People have been saying the squad is terrible, but it really isn’t. With a couple of solid additions in the summer, it’s absolutely possible to challenge for the title if the players just play at the level that they’ve proven they can.

rory_ocg_ • 5 points
Challenge for the title is a stretch but signing 1-2 missing midfield profiles would improve United massively. Such a competitive league though that even then, United would be doing extremely well to be the 4th or 5th best team in the league

People were saying exactly the same thing when Ole took charge. There are reasons to be hopeful, but we have had so many false dawns by now, I don’t think I will be getting too carried away after one match. But that said, I think we all needed a smile on our faces today.

Disagree with you. We have a very bad midfield. Only Bruno is good enough. Casemiro cannot play 90 min even once a week. Bruno might leave next season. And Mainoo is still a youngster. We need players like Stiller (who can set the tempo of the game) and someone like Baleba or Wharton who can receive the ball from the defenders and evade pressure. We can park the bus & attack on the counter but we cannot breakdown low blocks against opposition teams.

That was as comprehensive of a beatdown as you will see of this city side. Absolutely timeless stuff today. And by god does it make the start of the weekend that much better.

For whole 96 mins we were the only one playing. I never thought i would say this so quickly given what the situation is at Man United. For the first time in 2 years i actually loved to see Man United play as Man United should play. Aggression, experience and clinicality everything was there. We pressed only when necessary in defence, we pressed nicely upfront to make them nervous, man marking was on point today, we took chances when we should, everything was “Man United” standard. I had a smile on my face the whole game today after so long. Amazing match 👏🏻❤️. Dorgu is an Engine. He ran the whole game, back and front. He has been a totally different guy after that Newcastle’s goal. Casemiro was UCL Casemiro today. He can’t play 90 mins for sure but for 60-70 mins he is the man. Mainoo is improving match upon match. Maguire was needed and so he delivered. Leader of the back line. Everyone played like their lives depend on it. I hope this impact continues. Apparently stronger teams brings the best out of us. The atmosphere was crazy today 🙌🏻❤️. GGMU.

Keane needs to get a grip having a dig at us because we actually had a strong team out. Ultimately the lads had to perform and they did. Also Carrick made some big calls and got them right. He could have easily stuck ugarte in mid with Case but he didn’t. He got mainoo in because he keeps the ball well and is composed.

mjenkins_eng • 8 points
Roy Keane is the kind of guy who would argue with his own shadow Just not worth putting yourself through what he says . He was useful as a player . Anything more , simply don’t listen to him
C
chrisx13296 • 1 points
Honestly the more he speaks the more i want to forget what he did for Man United. He is tainting his legacy because of his mouth.
M
mjenkins_eng • 5 points
Just imagine backing some random toxic , emotional manager who sunk the club over our best youth product since Scholes and Giggs and nearly selling him on the word of that clown Now imagine thinking that the guy who thankfully correctly intervened and put an end to that madness (Wilcox) is some villain And imagine not backing men like Fletcher , Evans and Carrick who all bleed Manchester United And all for what ? What has modern football fandom become ? Such bs narratives depending upon where you come from and not what you actually do on the pitch for Manchester United

I think a lot of the criticism Wilcox gets is undeserved but he also gets a lot of deserved criticism For me you can judge him and the overall structure over a few years of being in place. It haven’t been smooth sailing so far. I don’t think anyone expected to be even though they act like they did

Front office intervening with who and how the manager plays is not good. Doesn’t matter the manager.
W
waltz_with_potatoes • 2 points
It’s not good but from what we understand is that Wilcox suggested that 3-4-3 isn’t working and maybe it’s time to try something else and Amorin blew up? Another was that he was training 4-3-3 and 4-5-1 but then reverting last minute

guy’s a skilful player but he’s not a matchwinner. too easy to picture his mopey face after a loss.

A brilliant match all round but my favourite part has to be Bruno rolling the ball away from Donnarumma. Cheap shithousery is my favourite

Does anyone know what Mounts goal was ruled out for?
I
iMalz • 11 points
A very suspect VAR decision. They measured against the player closest to Cunha and not Rodri. Nothing was shown after the goal or analysis as well… Should have been 6-0 today
R
Rare-Reveal876 • 11 points
Thrilled we won but Anthony Taylor and the officials were a fucking disgrace yet again today. I know we probably got away with one with Dalot, but I don’t know why Taylor is allowed to referee our games
I
iMalz • 5 points
The amount of fouls going for them and the exact same thing against us (and not getting it) is a disgrace
R
Rare-Reveal876 • 3 points
I don’t know what it is, Taylor’s from Altrincham which is down the road, which makes me think he must get some stick out and about. Even more reason to not allow him to referee our games.
K

I would’ve won £100 if that goal stood, fuming haha. Great results from the team today.

I feel for you my boy me and my dad were going livid. There’s an alternate world where city get a fluke goal there and crazy amounts of added time are put on

But it was a counterattacking game supposedly .
N
No_Crow_3576 • 1 points
It was, but that’s alright for now. Were focussed on the short-term, and got a good result today by playing like that. It might not be as sustainable moving forward, but to stabilise this season after sacking Amorim, it’s definitely a good approach. It might be sustainable after, I’m not sure, but I don’t think Carrick will be able to take us to the next stage anyway because the board intend to only give him this season
T
TheSmio • 3 points
Well, it was a counter-attacking game, but obviously there is nothing wrong about it. Mourinho’s Real Madrid were a counter-attacking team that scored a lot of goals because nobody could cope with their counter-attacks and today we showed the same.
M
mandingostrawberry • 5 points
no point in having possession if you’re gonna do whatever the fuck that was man city did
D
dirtydan02 • 3 points
This doesn’t even include our chances that were a hair offside
G
GoinSpace • 3 points
Given 2 of those goals were in an empty net they would have both been like 0.8xg as well haha. Probably matched the 2.1xG from those 3 goals alone

Yessir, what a thrashing!! My dad and brother are city fans too, so I couldn’t be happier.
M

Some clowns on here saying that this was a counterattacking game because of “possession stats” This was far from a counterattacking game . We had all the big chances in the first half. Went ahead in the second half and they started passing it around aimlessly . Then got stung again. Not every game with less than 50 percent possession is a “counterattacking game”. It was a proper walloping of Guardiola who looked clueless and gave up in the 80th minute And because it’s not some hipster with a tactical board on the sidelines , and good old Steve Holland and Michael Carrick , people are trying to pin this as counterattacking smash and grab But who cares what they think. Manchester United are fucking back.
I
iMalz • 3 points
I agree, Micah Richard’s was saying we played on the counter despite our second coming from a good spell of possession…
M
mjenkins_eng • 1 points
Mate anyone but Amorim worshippers and ABUs could see that this was a dominant display and not some counterattacking smash and grab I would say even possession wasn’t bad for us because our ball retention was more meaningful
I
iMalz • 3 points
We absolutely battered them – can’t actually believe my eyes lol
D

I think Sesko could use some goalscoring pressure taking off of him as he develops. So I think for the rest of the season the idea of playing a more fluid/transitional front 3 in some tougher games is a great way to balance things out.
