Hey everyone. To clarify, anyone approved for Bilt Card 2.0 is eligible for a welcome bonus, even if you previously held the Bilt Mastercard.”

>For every $30 in Bilt Cash earned, unlock 1,000 Bilt Points on rent or mortgage payments. There is no minimum Bilt cash required to earn points and increments of $30 is not required That’s a very elaborate way to avoid saying 3%.
T
Tight_Couture344 • 57 points
While I find that language infuriatingly ridiculous, they probably can’t call it a fee because they aren’t ever actually charging a fee.

And it sucks
S
sanchochili • 22 points
The math if I understand it is spend $750 on regular purchases, gain $30 in Bilt Cash (4% of $750), spend that $30 to get 1000 points for your $1000 rent. So instead of 5 bananas, it’s $750 of bananas to get your 1000 rent points. So if I have $2000 rent payment, I need to also spend $1500 to gain the points for my rent. They just obscured it for the many people who won’t bother to do the math.
C
Creative-Aardvark-28 • 39 points
No that’s not true, you have to essentially spend 75% of your rent to “unlock” all the points on rent or mortgage payments.

Richard Kerr basically lied in his response by semantics and omission. Never trust corporate on reddit

Bro put out a whole video to address the leakers when he could have just said “y’all were right.” What a slime ball
C
Cyberhwk • 14 points
> when he could have just said “y’all were right.” He could have said “y’all were right”…and we’d have literally the exact same information as we have post-launch. So many outstanding questions and this launch revealed absolutely NOTHING we didn’t already know.

Absolute dog, I’m cancelling and they lost a customer

It begins a Wells Fargo so you can just sock drawer it and not take the credit it.
J
JaredsBored • 6 points
Accounts closed in good standing don’t hurt your credit. They continue to age on your report for 10 years as well. The only credit hit is from lost balance and if that affects your utilization materially. I’m cancelling mine before the switch so I can get an autograph sub in the future.
S
Staple_Overlord • 30 points
The leaks made it sound like paying rent with this card would start you in the hole due to a 3% fee, then you need to earn back BILT cash to get out. If I understand correctly, rather, you start at $0 and 0 points, but can earn up from there with regular spend. By far a preferred option, but I’m not sure this sub wants to hear it.
B
beigeavocadoo • 17 points
This is the semantically correct take and from a human psychology standpoint, we don’t “lose” anything when paying rent, but it is still the same 75% spend required to get to what we were getting with BILT 1.0…
S
Staple_Overlord • 17 points
Well the BILT 1.0 was basically dead on arrival and through the miracle of venture capital (lol) it lasted long enough for me to net like 200k free points. The fact that people were doing five 50¢ reloads to cash in on their rent was never going to last. This is sustainable and still valuable to you and me. I’ve been saying this everywhere, the $0 AF card now becomes a 2.33x card up until 75% of the value of rent. My rent is $4000. If I spend $3000, I’ll get my 4000 rent points and 3000 everyday points. That’s 7000 points for $3000 in everyday spend. 2.33x. Before it was $4000 in rent and $2.50 in Amazon reloads. Yes I will miss that 1600x point card but come on….that was an abuse of the system.

> The leaks made it sound like paying rent with this card would start you in the hole due to a 3% fee You missed the one leak that countered that assumption. The screenshot offering the choice between “max points” and “no transaction fee” directly called out the partial earning scenario. No one was ever going to start in the hole unless they wanted to outright buy the points. (And a lot of people weren’t going to start in the hole regardless because of the Bilt Cash SUB.)

To no one’s surprise… leakers still undefeated

Bilt couldn’t stop a leak of their highly anticipated, highly promoted new product. Cardless has their own well-documented issues. Odds are this partnership is a mess waiting to happen.
L
Lazerpop • 10 points
At this point i’m less concerned about the new rewards points program and far more concerned about “cardless”. They have a fucking ungooglable name. I can’t find anything authentic that’s positive or negative about them.

Do existing Bilt members get the signup bonus if they transition to the Palladium card?
D
Double_Combination55 • 16 points
Just asked in the app this question to their support. Yes, if you transition from your current Wells Fargo Bilt Mastercard to one of the new Bilt Card 2.0 options, you are eligible for the sign-up bonus. The bonus amounts are: – Blue: $100 Bilt Cash – Obsidian: $200 Bilt Cash – Palladium: $300 Bilt Cash If you apply between January 14 and February 7, your Bilt Cash bonus will be awarded on February 7. If you apply after February 7, you’ll receive your bonus upon approval. Followed up message from them…. I get why that would be confusing—there’s been a lot of change with the new cards rolling out. To confirm, both existing cardholders who transition to a Bilt Card 2.0 and new applicants are eligible for the sign-up bonus. If you have any other questions about the transition or the new cards, just let me know. Following it up again with question about the other bonus on their highest card… Yes, if you transition to the Palladium Card, you are eligible for the full welcome offer: $300 Bilt Cash, 50,000 Bilt Points, and Gold Status when you spend $4,000 on purchases (excluding rent and mortgage) in your first 3 months. This applies to both new applicants and existing cardholders moving to Card 2.0. Let me know if you have any other questions about the Palladium Card or the transition process. Have feeling this is pre programmed response. Lol

I asked the app 5 minutes ago and they told me flat no that we aren’t eligible for any sign up bonus lol

This is what the Offer Terms for the card have on pg. 6: “Welcome Bonus Eligibility and Restrictions. The following eligibility requirements and restrictions apply to all Bilt Card welcome bonuses (Bilt Blue, Bilt Obsidian, and Bilt Palladium). Eligibility Restrictions: Welcome bonuses are available only to new Bilt Card applicants who do not currently hold a Bilt Card, have not previously held a Bilt Card and have not received a Bilt Card welcome bonus in the past.” So it looks like a no?
A
Aaron90495 • 28 points
Wow holy shit, I prob wasn’t going to get this but that SUCKS
F
Fit_Engineer_3760 • 13 points
It really does. I’m hoping there’s more clarification to this part at the AMA later, but the bonus was the only reason I would apply for this card. Now, it’s a hard no. What a way to exclude your actual customers.

This is rough. It’s easier to take a chance if I know the annual fee will be largely offset for the first year.
C
Cyberhwk • 3 points
They’ve updated the T&C. It sounds like existing Bilt members are eligible for the SUB.
M
MateoHardini • 11 points
Just read the terms, did they already update them because I had the following: Eligibility Restrictions: Welcome bonuses are available only to new Bilt Card 2.0 applicants who do not currently hold a 2.0 Bilt Card issued by Column N.A., Member FDIC, have not previously held a Bilt Card 2.0 issued by Column N.A., Member FDIC and have not received a Bilt Card 2.0 issued by Column N.A., Member FDIC welcome bonus in the past.

It looks like it just got updated! I refreshed the pdf, and it looks like the previous blurb I posted is now replaced.
C

So…is there even a single shred of information here we didn’t already know? 😂😂😂
D

Announcement is from top of the WTC, to easily measure the fall of card members
J
jr0061006 • 7 points
There are some new semantics to parse with the unfortunate phrasing “*unlock* 1,000 points for every $30 in Bilt cash *earned.*” People are hoping that means you don’t have to *spend* the Bilt Cash on offsetting the 3% fee. Just by *earning* it, you *unlock* the fee waiver.

_dhruv9496 • 6 points
This will be the question on his AMA later today.
C
Cyberhwk • 3 points
>his AMA later today LOL. No way is that going to go well.
_
_dhruv9496 • 3 points
100% Agree on that.
C
Cyberhwk • 3 points
OMG DUDE! The AMA is going even worse than I expected!!! Sounds like the rent will NEVER hit your card but you have to put an ACH account in, Bilt Cash redemptions will likely be capped, and Rent Day bonuses are probably going away.
K
kBarSan • 32 points
Yea, this is an easy decision. I’m out.
D
desichidiya • 58 points
Major disappointment that we have to spend 75% of housing payment to get 1x points.
D
Deep_CFC • 13 points
Yes for people with insane rents (audience that I assume look into a product like this in the first place) I just don’t see how this would make much sense. Simplicity taken away along with points/fee waiver.
L
LikesToLurkNYC • 3 points
Yeah it no longer makes sense for us w super high rent and other ccs, makes sense for my sibling w lower rent and already uses as their primary card
P
PhilJ2020 • 28 points
Essentially, this is no longer a rent card. This is now just another travel card.
S
SillyTechnology7340 • 19 points
It’s a benefits card, now with the fun of dealing with Cardless!
P
PhilJ2020 • 11 points
Yeah… that’s my other concern. Who TF is cardless?? I don’t feel great trusting a bank I’ve never heard of. I can just pay rent via ACH and get 250 points in the BILT alliance. That’s… my plan.
P
PhoKingU2Nyte • 3 points
So you still get some points if you do ach? If that’s the case then I rather just do that and not worry about spending requirements
J
JumpyCandy6463 • 74 points
Detail on rent fee please
