For sure, but at least with this one you’re playing the same guy in all roles It feels like, more than OW, people are attached to chars rather than roles. Especially for duelists, but since dp is all (and apparently has a similar kit but different passives and ultimates based on role?) maybe it’ll be a little different If not it doesn’t really change anything for me as a vanguard player. But I do like that they’re trying new things

Idk about people being attached to characters over roles. Tank has some really popular Marvel characters like Cap, Venom, Hulk, Thor, Groot, Dr Strange & Rogue in it but people would still rather play characters they probably didn’t know of before Rivals like Magik, Iron Fist, Jeff, etc… since they like those classes more.

I think using this concept for Deadpool is just asking for a lot of toxicity. He is so popular you’ll have all 3 roles fighting to play him and getting extra toxic to whichever one “stole” Deadpool from them. Especially if it turns out one or two of the roles is very weak or very strong and people start flaming whoever is playimg the “throw pick” role. Like if he is a Strategist with Ultron/Mantis levels of healing and no defensive Ult people will think it’s a waste picking him but the strategist won’t switch out of stubborness. Likewise if it turns our Tank Deadpool is crazy strong but a DPS or Strat locks him in early and your team just loses because the enemy team is using the busted version of him while yours isn’t. This sort of idea is cool but I dunno, I think maybe doing something like this for someone like Mr Fantastic would havr worked a bit better because he isn’t crazy popular enough to warrant such rabid instalocking and his powers/personality can be applied to any role in all honesty.

You make a good point about popularity being an important context. And now that you say it, I love Mr. F as he is but, it’d be nice if Mr. Flex-Man could literally be a flex hero. It does right by Reed and the F4 would actually being evenly spread across all roles. It’s the second paragraph that I worry is going to cause the most friction. Streamers on day 0 will identify the “optimal” Deadpool, top comp players will weigh in. And boom, the community will memetically have its opinion decided. A week passes and now playing the “wrong” Deadpool is considered throwing, regardless of how the roles are actually balanced. Some people are going to be very annoying about this (Especially since they likely want to play Deadpool the *right* way, unlike *you*. *I’m right, and your hogging of the character is basically throwing rn*)

In case you’re not aware; The game since a while now, waits for all people to load in, before showing the character pick wheel. I have the game on an NVMe SSD, and it *used* to matter, but does no longer. – I have to wait till everyone is loaded in before I can pick. I think this was done around the time of the PS4 launch.

90% of players *do not* play ranked, at all ever. Most comments and such are from QP only players. And yes, it’s absolutely a problem there, but that’s where the overwhelming majority plays, and is *all* they play. Just like OW, ranked players are actually a very small segment of the playerbase. I doubt it’s exaggeration, it’s just understand that 90% of the playerbase never touches ranked and is QP only. Comments will then make a lot more sense, not just this thread, the game as a whole.
