When it comes to a Topshop Unique show, you definitely expect to see The Theme, theme, which will really flood the streets immediately after the show. For their spring 2012 collection, demonstrated during London Fashion Week, the theme was Ancient Egypt, but also Elizabeth Taylor and the hip-hop scene. Featuring gorgeous designs that carried Elizabeth Taylor’s “Cleopatra” inspired style, as well as ‘80s vibe and upgraded urban flair, the Topshop Unique Spring 2012 collection dazzled with its uniqueness and luxury.
“Urbanizing the attire of the pharaohs by fusing ancient and modern together” read the show notes. The Topshop Unique Spring/Summer 2012 collection is all about variety, containing both super feminine pieces and sporty elements that all feature the “look at me!” vibe. The great accent on retro details speaks about the street wear, which gets completely revitalized by the chic British label.
The catwalk during the Topshop Unique Spring 2012 show was literally flooded with hieroglyphic prints, gold accents, bandage dresses, urban style outfits and hip-hop pieces with skin revealing details, such as cut out shorts. The Unique girl stands out in the crowd with her gold leaf hair, bold mid-drift baring tops and pyramid-shaped bags: this was apparently the idea the label was trying to push us to.
From track suits to silhouettes-embracing midi and short dresses and skirts, fabulous stripe cut-out shorts, sexy sheer detail pieces and stylish pants, the Topshop Unique Spring 2012 collection looked really exceptional and managed to bring back flirty and stylish pieces for making a true statement in the upcoming warm season. The urban-chic flair of the collection was best accentuated thanks to the great abundance of metallic, simple and sheer fabrics, while the graphic motifs and Elizabeth Taylor in “Cleopatra” prints talked about the cultural approach of the designs.
In terms of color, Topshop Unique designers went mainly for timeless shades, such as black, grey, white and beige, but there were also splashes of blue, gold and soft pink, as well as luxurious Egyptian prints for injecting some interest and breaking the overall monotonous image of the fashion line. No wonder, the Topshop Unique Spring 2012 line is a very exquisite collection, designed especially for fashionizers, who never mind loads of attention.
