Inspired by a trip to the retro English seafront, the Mulberry Spring 2012 collection presented during London Fashion Week stated that the upcoming season is definitely going to be a cutesy affair. Featuring lots of ice cream hues, neon highlights and sexy silhouettes with sporty items and accessories, but also perfectly combining sheer dresses with leather jackets, the utterly fresh and sweet looks presented promised to make waves in the upcoming summer.
Not shy on prints, color blocking, animal patterns and crystal embellishments, the amazing Mulberry Spring 2012 collection was actually a lovely display of uber-feminine and fun styles. The legendary brand, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, really dazzled everyone present at London Fashion Week with its gorgeous interpretations of the upcoming style waves. “It was all about my memories of the English seaside as a kid in the Seventies. We sat on the beach with [raincoats] over our swimming costumes, and ate fish and chips,” said Emma Hill, Mulberry’s creative director.
With its spring 2012 collection, the luxury brand once again shows why it was considered to be the beloved fashion house for many voguish fashionistas in the ’70s and ’80s. Inspired by the Great Britain Summer and British seaside, the amazing Mulberry collection demonstrated lemon sherbet and lightweight looks, super-soft leather, lemon yellows, lollipop-inspired staples, macs and windbreakers, adorable prints, stylish hooded trench coats, appliquéd jackets, long lace raglan dresses and sheer, floor-skimming and pleated skirts, leggings worn under dresses, and breathtaking all over jewel-encrusted dresses.
As far as color goes, the collection was ultimately fun and playful, including lots of sweet pastels, nude, gold and black tones. Mulberry models walked down the catwalk wearing sexy teased, tousled hair, natural makeup and sporting mint green, bubblegum pink, and eye-catching yellows. Sweet, feminine silhouettes were spiced up with sporty elements for a more modern, edgy feel. The ultimate crush of the collection? The striped candy-colored maxi dress definitely, which leaves loads of positive impression without any special accessories used.
In terms of accessories, the Mulberry Spring/Summer 2012 collection brought stunning towering platforms and bags from the label’s new Travel Collection. One could also spot the already famous Alexa and Lily bags, which were redesigned for the spring 2012 line of the brand.
Both in terms of apparel and accessories, the Mulberry Spring 2012 collection, sent off during London Fashion Week, really rocks, promising to crown you with a super-duper trendy look that will make a true fashion statement in the summer season.
