Mango’s fall 2015 collection goes back to the old times – the good old days of sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll. Well, maybe without the second. The collection was fully inspired by the ‘70s. The opening and the closure of the show was made by the Brazilian buzz model – Ana Beatriz Baroos. Coco Chanel’s idea of perfect simplicity in a combination with true rock and roll gave us a risky yet wearable line worth of celebration. A perfect line for the casual people or a nice start for a perfect wardrobe – pick one!
The very first look of the collection is a white chiffon maxi dress. With a gleam of thoughtfulness in her deep eyes, Baroos is wearing the dress while subtly exposing her bohemian fur coat. Apparently, Mango decided to give us a grand head-start with the most chic look of the line. But don’t be fooled, the other pieces are no less elegant and classy. It’s just that the whole collection is filled with that subtle elegance of simplicity. A couple of shorts, one of which is worn with a pair of knee high boots, are a chance to gently expose the beauty of your legs while still staying classy.
The majority of the looks are completed with a don’t-care style tie, as if carelessly left on the model’s neck. The extravagant hats, knee high boots and the manly boots as well as the leather or baggy jackets do bring up the spirit of rock’n’roll. Plus, the intentionally poor makeup and hairstyles, the lack of any outstanding accessories and jewelry are another way of focusing the audience’s attention on the elegance of simplicity.
The intentionally crude boots mix up with the pronouncedly feminine knee high boots, and the flowery prints blend well with casual colors like grey or creamy to create a collection of true casualty. There is also a lot of white, black and light brown. But, surprisingly, the eternal topic of black-and-white wasn’t touched. If Mango wanted to do something special, congrats, because they succeeded! This collection takes a new vision of the black and white topic, and it tries to discuss and explain them separately – something rarely done before.
