After having a great success with her first signature fragrance Purr, Katy Perry is preparing to launch her second perfume that is meant to be an extension of the first one. The new fragrance inspired by the diva will also take the feline world as its theme and will suggestively have the name Meow. Learn more about the new perfume from Katy Perry, which is undoubtedly going to be the most powerful tool for bringing out your inner kitten!
In spite of her extremely busy and successful year, the beautiful diva is ready to create a new fab scent that will have completely different defining notes for a clear distinction between the two fragrances. As Katy puts it, the California Dream Tour was a great source of inspiration for her new project: ”It’s a sister fragrance. Purr to me was a little bit more floral, and Meow is a little bit more sweet. It was probably because of the California Dreams tour that it was more of the confectionary world, because everything I’ve seen for the last year has been like cotton-candy scented or huge peppermints or massive gummy bears,” the songstress stated.
Since the Purr and Meow are designed to be sister perfumes, they have quite similar bottles. Katy found that milk bottles found in flea markets were the ideal choice for a sizzling perfume bottle design: ”Vintage milk glass that you find at flea markets always looks so great with light hitting it. It’s really a stunning bottle and doesn’t need bells and whistles, or too much sparkle around it,” the diva told WWD.
For the launch of Meow, set for mid November, Katy has chosen a retailer she has great affinity for: “I chose Nordstrom because that’s where I liked to shop growing up in Santa Barbara,” she said, adding that “We want to be classy.” Cheri Botiz, national beauty and fragrance director for Nordstrom, revealed that the latest scent from Katy perfectly matches her personality: “Everything about Meow embodies Katy’s fun, spirited energy,” she explained.
As for her own expectations from the new project, Katy has planned to direct the entire attention on the perfume rather than on her, and she is planning to launch a pretty impressive campaign for it: “I’ll be doing some events around it — some pop-up things, probably in December. Those get pretty wild. I don’t get beat up like Justin Bieber, but I do get some screams.”
Meow is developed by Givaudan perfumers. The new fragrance signed Katy Perry opens with notes of tangerine, pear, jasmine and gardenia; the heart notes are honeysuckle, lily of the valley and orange blossom, while the sweet base features aromas of amber, vanilla, sandalwood and musk.
Meow will be exclusively sold at Nordstroms and will retail for $45 for 1.7 oz. (50 ml Eau de Parfum) and $65 for 3.4 oz. (100 ml Eau de Parfum). Just the ideal gift for the holiday season!
