It’s such a busy time of year, and not only are we constantly doing something, but we also don’t have as much time as we’d like to get our manicure fixed or refreshed. So here are some tips on how to make your manicure last longer.
First, you must start with a clean slate. Use and astringent or give your nails a good cleaning with soap and water before you start the polishing.
Essie recommends that you wait two minutes between each coat of polish, including the base coat. Sometimes it’s really annoying to wait, but you’ll be thankful you did later when you have a less chance of dinging or chipping your polish.
When painting the nail color, apply a horizontal stroke of polish along the top edge of the finger nail. Be sure to also do this with your topcoat. Then, every 2 days apply a fresh top coat. This will keep your manicure looking glossy and will also help prevent chipping.
If you do have the unfortunate occurrence of a chip in your paint, you can quickly paint a coat of glittery polish over each nail, and that will help hid imperfections quickly if you don’t have the time to repaint the nail.
Happy Holidays, and may your manicures be chip free!
