Anna Sui Spring 2012 – New York Fashion Week

There are certain fashion designers that can always be relied on to make fun and there are designs that always make you smile, and Anna Sui is the queen to this end. Anna Sui is once again showing that there is no limit in creativity and designing talent, as her incredible collection took the stage at New York Fashion Week, bursting at the steams with vibrant prints and playful shapes. The 57-piece Anna Sui Spring 2012 fashion line is just dazzling, comprising an array of vintage pieces that have been reinvented to look modern, feminine and wearable. With a great attention to detailing, a certain romantic and girlish vibe, the collection features kind of vintage Parisian allure spiced up with modern details that enchant and inspire!
It seems like Anna Sui had quite a lot of fun in the 70s and 80s, she’s been trying to talk about this through her incredible creations ever since then. Her latest collection is no different in this sense, setting up a 1940s themed party in the 1970s on the catwalk in New York. The inspiration behind this has been fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez, who spent time in Paris during the Seventies. The result was just as pretty and girly, as Anna Sui herself is and she certainly managed to capture the “amazing energy”, sassy clothes brought during the ‘70s.
The new Anna Sui Spring 2012 collection was all in 1940s style, although there were also pieces with 1970s spirit. Elasticated sparkly belts, chiffon paneling, patterned tights, dyed marabou shrugs and patterned jumpsuits, often paired with 1940s-style tea dresses for a more retro vibe made up this harmonious fashion line, which is set to underline femininity in a very classic and stylish manner. Cute bow blouses paired with flowing skirts, stylish jumpsuits worn with matching turbans, high waist hot-pants and lovely shorts, vintage dresses and cool printed ankle socks, platform wedges and edgy accessories are all here to demonstrate the power of vintage designs, so it’s no surprise that every single item was a great magnet of attention.
Prints are extremely hot in the upcoming season, and since Anna Sui is an expert in this field, her collection never lacked bold, catchy and impressive prints. Lovely stars, flowers, hearts, butterflies and other gorgeous prints pushed the collection to perfection and conquered the rows of monochromatic fashion hearts.
As for the color palette of the collection, there were both stylish monochrome designs and lovely pastel color mixes, letting everyone pick up her best matches. The collection also included crazy detailed black pieces with gold glitter touches for fans of Goth style. Regardless of the color choice and prints used, each piece in the Anna Sui Spring 2012 collection radiates sophistication in a very wearable manner, so take look at it and enjoy every piece of Anna Sui’s enormous talent and original vision!
