The Cementera already has put in place like 350 million dollars to begin the stadium construction project but the two previous locations (in Perinorte and Parque Bicentenario both in Northwestern CDMX) they wanted to start at were rejected by the CDMX government, that’s the actual issue.

How? Like don’t get me wrong, they are 100% to blame for getting themselves into this fuckery of a situation in the first place, but in what way is this a “fuck you” to the fans? They are crisis managing as we speak: * They had a spoken agreement with UNAM where it had been stated that they would continue in C.U. for this last semester of the season. * Then, UNAM came in at the last minute after holiday vacation and straight up told them they wouldn’t honor the agreement beacuse of “scheduling complications”. We all know that’s BS. UNAM being such a prestigious institution got cold feet about an outsider team essentially turning an iconic landmark of their campus into their own home and being more succesful than their affiliate team. * As a result, Cruz Azul started negotiations with Cd. de los Deportes, but they were never finalized, as Puebla was also interested in striking a deal, which they ultimately got. TUDN and other outlets are the ones to blame for reporting it as fact ahead of time. You might then ask, wouldn’t none of this matter if they had already built the new stadium? Well, many people seem to forget that Cruz Azul STILL has an ACTIVE CONTRACT with Estadio Azteca, hence why there hasn’t been any rush in building the new stadium. At least up until NOW, they do have to strart ASAP since their goal is to finish it before Sheinbaum’s term as president ends.
