The topic of “Steny Hoyer” is currently trending due to his recent announcement of retirement, which has generated significant media coverage and public interest. According to a report from CBS News, Hoyer, a long-serving Maryland representative, has officially stated he will not seek re-election. This news is significant as Hoyer has been a prominent figure in U.S. politics, having served in the House of Representatives since 1981 and holding key leadership positions, including Majority Leader.

The substantial search interest, exceeding 10,000 searches, is likely a direct result of his retirement announcement, as people seek to understand the implications of his departure on both Maryland politics and national governance. His resignation is a notable event in the context of the upcoming elections and could impact political dynamics in Congress, prompting users to search for more information about the situation.

In addition, WUSA9 has provided coverage of Hoyer’s live floor remarks during which he announced his retirement, further enhancing visibility and driving public curiosity about his future plans. This mix of live coverage and official announcements contributes to heightened search activity, reflecting a collective aim to stay informed on developments related to his political career and the broader electoral landscape.

It’s kinda like in WV, you can mostly win as Democrat here if you’re borderline Republican, unless you’re in Chicago or Champaign/Urbana, maybe Bloomington. Without Chicago it would just be Illibama here.

You said it – he thinks he’s just going to sashay into that seat snd do absolutely nothing like they all do. I have tried to call his office numerous times and not even his aides pick up. They’re “above” it, think they’ve got it all wrapped up. Please show them they’re wrong

This seems like the easiest slam dunk political hit ad for Kelly or Stratton’s campaigns to start running across Chicagoland. What are they waiting for?

We can no longer depend on political leaders to protect us. The federal government and its personal masked police force no longer has any credibility. General Strike is the most effective and most peaceful way to demand change. It works. Also start organizing locally, we can make change and protect our communities. Remember we have the numbers on our side, that is our biggest lever. Watch the billionaires and corporations freak out, without their support the government will fall. General Strike.

I’m pretty pissed at Schneider, but I doubt my lack of decorum, anti establishment and anti oligarchy rhetoric will resonate in his district. Still considering it tho.

Eric Sorensen is always on these goddamn lists… I’d say vote for Montez Soliz, but he was kicked off the ballot.

I am unsure how to feel about this list. On the one hand, I see no names of anyone I can vote to send home. On the other hand, I see no names of anyone I can vote to send home. Not being part of the problem is nice, but not being able to be part of the solution is frustrating.

Not riots, protests. A few torched waymos does not a riot make.

This list is being presented as “Democrats who thanked ICE,” which is *partially* true. I had to look this up because my memory was fuzzy as to *when* this vote occurred. It was June 9, 2025 and the bill’s title was “Denouncing the antisemitic terrorist attack in Boulder, CO.” [source article](https://www.newsweek.com/75-democrats-house-antisemitism-resolution-ice-gratitude-2083177) and [GovTrack H.Res 488](https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/119/hres488) >Monday’s resolution condemned this month’s antisemitic attack in Boulder, Colorado, in which the suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, faces 118 criminal charges. Soliman is accused of targeting a march calling for the return of Israeli hostages in Gaza. >The resolution also “affirms that free and open communication between State and local law enforcement and their federal counterparts remains the bedrock of public safety and is necessary in preventing terrorist attacks; and expresses gratitude to law enforcement officers, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel, for protecting the homeland.” I think that we should make a habit of looking for these details when we see screenshots that don’t have dates and don’t have links, especially when they seem to confirm what we’re feeling. I’m not posting these links to change anyone’s feelings. I’m not accusing the people who post this screenshot of being intentionally manipulative. I think it’s important that people have a more complete view of *any* incindiary thing, and the media will not be helping us out in that endeavor. This is going to be a looong year.

Please IL 13 vote Budzinski’s establishment ass out. PRIMARY PRIMARY PRIMARY Holy fuck.
A
alienatedframe2 • -14 points
Great example of how the left can’t help but go after their own. I’m not supporting voting in favor of this resolution, but note how only Dems get flack in this post and none of the 200+ Republicans who voted for it do.
S
scottyjrules • 22 points
Because zero Democrats should have voted for this fascist bullshit. At least we have a list of people to primary.
O
Omnigroove • 8 points
There is no one on that list I would call left. “Democrat” does not mean, and has never meant, “leftist.” As a left leaning person I EXPECT Republicans to be closeted , simpering fascists. However, no one who votes Democrat voted for any of these people to lick boots. So, yes, from a leftist, if these quislings were to rot in the desert sun, the people would not lose a single ally. They are not our own.
R
Ra_In • -8 points
This resolution both condemned an antisemitic attack and praised ICE, it was a bad faith bill designed to bait the left into infighting. Don’t take the bait. It didn’t do anything, save your purity tests for bills with real consequences.
B
BreatheCrete • 14 points
None of them had to vote for this.
I
IngsocInnerParty • 1 points
Exactly. Democrats should be smart enough not to take the bait on these performative GOP bills.
R
Ra_In • 1 points
That would mean voting not to condemn antisemitism. Either way they have to cast a vote (or no vote) that looks bad out of context. I guess these Democrats thought the voters who care the most about ICE would be smart enough to get that.

Problem is unless you live in these districts you can’t really do anything. I’m in a different district from these myself
